A Moment I Am Gonna Miss

aaaaahhhhhh...to remember the little moments!!! Pam is the hostess of the weekly meme to help us remember the little things in life!
Here is my sweet Colin Boy with his Star of The Week Poster!
Last week he was chosen by his teacher to be Star Student of the week. On Monday he presented his poster. On Tuesday he read his favorite picture book. On Wednesday he did the sharing bag with Show and Share items. On Thursday I wrote a letter about him for his teacher to read to the class and on Friday his class presented him with a Friend Poster!
He was so excited and did a great job with all of his daily presentations! This boy has come a long way this year with his behavior. He started out a little shaky bringing home yellows and reds for not making appropriate choices. Now,with a lot of hard work, he brings home green almost daily!
Great Job Colin...I am so proud of you!

I am gonna miss the days when they don't do "Star Student of the Week" anymore...it won't be long when they are "too big". So for now, I am gonna brag on my boy!!

For more moments you are gonna miss, be sure to visit Pam!

Where's Mom?! 35/52 Photos of ME!!

Are YOU a mom? Are YOU missing from the pictures? Most moms I know are, but here is a fun meme that brings us moms out from behind the camera and puts US in the spotlight! Carin over at Forever in Blue Jeans is the hostess of this year long picture project; and just think, after a year, you will have at least 52 pictures with you in them! It can be scary, but com'on, give it a try! It's easy, all you have to do is hand over the camera and smile (or not, it is completely up to you!!). And the best part is, you can jump in and start whenever; for me this will be my 35th week!

On Saturday we were fortunate enough to have a date night...how exciting...I KNOW...a date night during FOOTBALL SEASON!!!

So 2 of Ryan's students, sisters, Andrea and Silvia, came to watch the boys. They had pizza, made football shirts, watched TV and all around had a super fun time while Ryan and I were on our date!
We went out with 2 other couples, football coaches and their wives of course, for dinner, a movie and drinks afterwards! We were celebrating one of the coach's birthdays. We started off at a yummy place for Chicago style pizza and then headed to the movies to see "Couples Retreat".
Can you say HILARIOUS!!!! Funny funny movie...lots of laughing throughout!

Here we are waiting for the movie to start.
Gayle and Todd (the bday boy!)

Hud & Dawn

After the movie we walked to an Irish Pub thinking we could sit and talk.
Well for us who don't go out too often...unbeknownst to us...they had a live band playing, loudly, so instead of talking we were kinda shouting!
Oh well...we still had lots of fun!

The 3 gals as we were walking back to our cars!

I love having date nights, especially with great friends!

Now it's your turn to join the fun...hand the camera over, say cheese, and smile!

True Story Tuesday

WHY is it that kids get sick at the most inopportune time???????
Last week poor Brendan was the first one to come down with the yuckies!
And of course it was the WORST week for him to get sick with mine and Ryan's school schedules.
So this is how it went down....

Monday Night Bren is complaining that he is not feeling all that well; that he has a headache, sore throat, blah blah blah. Now mind you, I am not the kind of mom who coddles with one whines...gasp...I know, right!

I was all like... "You are fine...here have some medicine and go to bed."

3:00 am...Brendan is at my bedside crying that he dying...so I put my hand on his forehead and OUCH...burned myself. So I got the thermometer and...GASP...it was 104*.

Me: "Oh baby...I am so sorry I didn't believe you. Let's get you some medicine." I know BAD MOM!
So I feel my way to the linen closet to find that I HAVE NO CHILDREN'S MOTRIN....WHAT?!

3:30 am...so now I am on my way to Wal-Mart for children's motrin...don't be jealous!

3:45 am...drugging up my kid to put him back to bed, but he had other plans and decided we were up for the day. Lucky me...

And since I had parent/teacher conferences, Ryan was the lucky one to stay home with sickie on Tuesday. I stayed home on Wednesday and by Wednesday afternoon his fever had broken and he was starting to feel back to his norm...what ever that may be!!

And so then who decides to get sick on Wednesday night??...YEP...you guessed it...Colin!

ARE YA KIDDIN' ME?!

And the sad thing about it...I mean the REALLY sad thing about it was that there was NO way that either Ryan or I could take Thursday off. Ryan had Benchmark Testing and I had 5 hours of parent/teacher conferences...so REALLY BAD MOM THAT I AM...I drugged him up and took him to school. Thankfully we only had a half day of school...so he made it through school and while I was having my conferences, he and his bro watched movies and played on my computer in my office...it's what he would have done at home anyways...RIGHT??!!

Com'on...help a mom feel better...tell me you would have done the same thing?!

OK...never mind...I accept the fact that sometimes I do not make the best decisions...but a girl can try.

And in the end...DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT I REALLY HATE?....I hate that Ryan's testing and my conferences came before my sick child.

And sadly...I didn't even get a picture of sickie Colin since he had to go to school sick...poor kid!

That's my True Story and I'm sticking to it!! For more True Stories check out Rachel.

Football Frenzy

Another Friday night...another football game...ALTHOUGH this Friday was a little bit different...it was our last home game and it was senior night! Senior night is where all of the seniors, football players, cheerleaders & band members, are introduced with their parents during pre-game. It is usually an emotional night, as it is most likely the last time they will play at home.

As the coin was tossed all of the seniors went onto the field with their hands clasped in unity...once a Wildcat...always a Wildcat!

We have 21 seniors graduating this spring, which means for a very young team next season!

Brendan and Colin along with Bric standing where the action is to be able to do their duty...BALL BOYS! They were sad too, as this will be the last game they will be ball boys this season!

Ryan's Defense

The Wildcats did not fare too well at their last home game; they lost to Mountain Lions 13-35. They now need to win out (win both of their last games) to be eligible for a play off birth. Next week we are away at a school that I am not so fond of...
Better Luck next week Wildcats!

Saturday on the Field
Poor Brendan and Colin...they were not feeling so hot on Saturday...they have been fighting off sickness all week, but insisted they play in their game.
Thankfully the game was not as early as last Saturday and we did not have to be to the field (0n this side of town) until 7:30 am for a 9 am kick off.
And even though I had given both boys medicine before the game, I still had to run to the store to get saline for Colin's nose.

"GO COBRAS"
Let the game begin...
The DC coaching the kids

Making the plays

Even in late October it was still hot on an early morning in the Valley.
The Cobras were up against the Steelmen and lost a heart retching game.
They should have won, but were on the wrong side of a very bad call from the ref and once the whistle blows...the play is over.
The play was this...Brendan had stripped (or taken the ball) from the other team's player and was running it in for a touchdown when the whistle blows...you see the ref thought the other player still had the ball. No matter that he didn't and Brendan would have scored, giving us the lead...cuz once the whistle is blown the play is over. Brendan was very upset...oh well...hard play too swallow.
Cobras 13 - Steelmen 19
That was the last regular season game for the Cobras...they play next on Saturday November 7 and it is there 'bowl game'.
We are hoping for a WIN!!!
Until Next Time...
Go Wildcats!
Go Cobras!

A Moment I Am Gonna Miss

aaaaahhhhhh...to remember the little moments!!! Pam is the hostess of the weekly meme to help us remember the little things in life!

Each night before going to bed, I check on the boys. These last few months they have been wanting to sleep together in Brendan's bed. They each have their own rooms with their own beds, but for whatever reason...they want to sleep together!!

It reminds me of when I was growing up and my sister and I used to sleep in the same bed even though we had our own rooms and own beds!! We would stay awake and talk and laugh for a long time after our mom tucked us in! I am sure there is some of that going on with these 2 as well!

Brendan goes through his stages of wanting his bed and room to himself, but right now he is happy to share his room with his brother!!!

So for now, I will let them sleep together to make those childhood memories, because I am sure that it won't last!!!

I Think I Can Cook...I Think I Can Cook!!

Last week the boys wanted pizza and we just didn't have the funds for it, so I started looking to see what kinds of ingredients I had in the fridge.
I found all of the pizza stuff, except dough...but I had tortillas...
I think I can cook, I think I can cook!!!
...add a tortilla...

...add some sauce...

...add some cheese...

...add another tortilla...

...close the lid and wait...

...after a few minutes...
VIOLA!

They were

True Story Tuesday

Another Tuesday...Another True Story!!!

So most of you know that last week was WCHS's homecoming...and for those of you that didn't know...last week was WCHS's homecoming!!! (the school where my hubby teaches and coaches!!)

So anywho
...last Wednesday was the girls powder puff game.
Now you may be asking...what's a powder puff game?!

This is a game where GIRLS play football...gasp...GIRLS.PLAY.FOOTBALL.
Yep...that's right football, not tackle football...flag football, but football none the less!

The game is usually between the Senior girls vs. the Junior girls

They get to play on the varsity field under the lights and everything!!!

SO COOL!

Ryan and another varsity coach were the referees for the game

Going over the rules of the game and the coin toss.

The Seniors are in blue and the Juniors are in yellow

It was actually a pretty good game with lots of passing and TDs!! There were also a lot of interceptions!

So you are probably thinking...what's so special about this...and if you weren't thinking that... I am sure you are thinking that now....RIGHT??!!!

Well...here's where it gets kinda funny, OR where I think it gets kinda funny!!!!

There were also cheerleaders for the game and if the girls are playing football...then who is cheering???....

The varsity football players of course!!!

They danced, they wiggled, they kicked, they jumped...just like real cheerleaders...

...they even did some stunts with flying and everything!!!

Now mind you, the coaches were not too amused that their players dressed up in those outfits doing a dance in front of a crowd and then preform their routine twice more for the pep rallies on Friday, but underneath their looks of disgust and eye rolls...there were a few giggles!!!

And when it was all said and done...the Seniors came away with the V.I.C.T.O.R.Y. and a fun time was had by all!!!
