A Moment I am Gonna Miss

Pam over at Your Gonna Miss This is the hostess of this weekly meme that helps you to remember and cherish the little things in life!

The other night I was sitting my chair and Ryan was sitting in his chair, yes we both have 'a' chair, when Colin comes and puts himself in Ryan's lap. Now that is not an unusual thing...the boys are often throwing themselves into Ryan's lap. At one time, one of them 'threw' themselves so hard that the chair fell backwards putting a HOLE in my wall! So to see Colin do this was not surprising...but tonight was a little softer, a little gentler, a little cuddlier...

And not to long after, this is what happened...

I am gonna miss the day when Colin is too big, he is almost there, to throw or crawl or put himself into Ryan's lap, whether it is to rough house or cuddle, cuz it's coming and it's coming one day way too fast!

What are you going to miss? Visit Pam and let her know!

God's Promise

As I was driving home yesterday, the kids noticed this absolutely beautiful rainbow, this picture really does not give it justice, and it made me think of God's promise of a new day. A promise that only HE can offer as long as we have faith. We, as a family, are going through a lot...Colin and his diagnosis...our school district and the override that we are trying to have passed (and if it doesn't pass...that will mean really, really bad things for teachers and students) and our fiances. All of the negativity can get a person, ME, feeling low and blue...but then I see this and I remember God's promise and I will choose to give it all to HIM...because that is what He wants.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Where's Mom?! 41/52 Photos of ME!

Forever In Blue Jeans

Are YOU a mom? Are YOU missing from the pictures? Most moms I know are, but here is a fun meme that brings us moms out from behind the camera and puts US in the spotlight! Carin over at Forever in Blue Jeans is the hostess of this year long picture project; and just think, after a year, you will have at least 52 pictures with you in them! It can be scary, but com'on, give it a try! It's easy, all you have to do is hand over the camera and smile (or not, it is completely up to you!!). And the best part is, you can jump in and start whenever; for me this will be my 41st week!

Me and My Colin Boy waiting for the Dr to come and check him out. Be sure to read Tuesday's post to find out why we had to go to PCH...I love this boy with all of my heart...

Now it's your turn to join the fun...hand the camera over, say cheese, and smile!

True Story Tuesday

Another True Story Tuesday...about my Colin Boy!
Back in November we noticed that Colin would 'zone' out as we called it; he would be in the middle of doing something and as quick as a wink, he would stop and stare as if in a trance and the only thing that brought him back was us calling his name or touching his shoulder. We weren't too worried about it at first, but then it started happening more often and instead of just being still during his 'zoning' out, he would walk away. There was one time when he actually started walking towards the street...scary right?

So I talked to his teacher, who I love by the way, and she said she would be on the look out for his 'zoning out'. She would report back to me at the end of the day as too how many she noticed through out the school day. It started as just a few, but grew in numbers and severity; she too noticed that he would stop mid-sentence and then stand and walk towards the door.

So we took him to his pediatrician, who took blood, which all testing for whatever they were testing for came back normal, and referred us to a neurologist at Children's Phoenix Hospital.

I was very fortunate to get him in the day after calling to set up the appointment. We both took last Thursday off of school and headed to CPH.

He was a little nervous and excited...for me....just nervous.

While in the waiting room, I had to fill out a 5 page questionnaire regarding my pregnancy, his birth, his life and all of our family medical history.

When the dr came in...he was so nice! I will call him Dr. B...he sat and talked with me regarding all of the answers I had given...very thorough...made me feel very good...

...and then he talked with Colin and did his exam on him....having him take off his socks & shoes and walking up and down the hallway all sorts of different ways...with his eyes open & closed.
He then brought him back into the room and did a bunch of reflex tests on him.
Dr. B was so friendly and down to earth, talking in terms that both Colin & I understood.

So after all of that, it was back to me and asking me what I thought was wrong with him...I said I didn't know and that is what brought us here.

He won't know anything for sure until an EEG is done, but his best professional guess is that Colin has...

...Childhood Absence Epilepsy...

...meaning that when he has a seizure in his brain, a non-convulsive kind, he goes 'absent' or 'zones' out. The treatment is medication and he should live a very normal, healthy life.

I will keep you updated on the results of his EEG...but until then thanks for listening...

Rivals Today...Friends Always

....and so it begins again...BASKETBALL SEASON that is!!
Last Saturday was the boys' first basketball game! Thankfully they are on the same team, which makes it so much easier for me...1 night of practice and 1 game a week vs. 2 practices and 2 games a week...
So on Saturday we show up to the game to find a friend on the opposing team...What is a friend to do...but defend!! It was so funny...cuz every time Brendan was on the court he wanted to defend Elijah...but every time Colin was on the court, he steered clear of him!

Here is Brendan going up for the pass

Colin...awesome defense

Brendan passing the ball into Colin

Get that ball....
Notice the score...we were on the losing end :(

Nice Defense Bren

Count it for 2

They are on the Purple Vipers
Brendan is #6 and Colin is #7

Great Game Boys!

Sadly they did not come home with a win...but it was a hard fought game. At one point they were down by more than 10 points, but came back to within six score...18-24...

Better Luck Next Time Vipers!

When Are We Going Back??...

...was the question I heard the minute we drove away from Williams the last time we were there! A few weeks ago we headed about 3 hrs North for the Polar Express and snow day and the day we left we heard the question...when can we go back?! So we told the boys that we would come back over our 3 day weekend and bring our family friends, Silvia & Andrea with us!

So Saturday after Ryan's football banquet, we packed up the car and headed north! We arrived in Williams around 7pm, after a stop for dinner. We unpacked the car and headed to the pool!
After a dip in the pool, we went back to our room to watch movies in our PJs!

After a good nights sleep...we woke up, had some breakfast and headed to the sledding hill. The girls have been sledding before, but not in quite awhile! They were very excited, as were the boys!

The weather was great...although it had not snowed since we had been there almost 3 weeks the snow was kinda hard...but the sun was beautiful and we almost dressed too warm!

Brendan biffing it on his first run of the day...sadly this would be the only time he wanted to go down the hill. He walked around playing in the snow (and pouting!) and ended up rebuilding some of the snowmen that had been damaged!

On your marks...get set...GO!

Silvia, Andrea, Ryan & Colin

Brendan walking through the woods...he didn't know that I was following him!

The Boys and The Girls!

Colin & Silvie playing in the snow!

Colin had lots of fun sledding on Sunday...up and down and up and down...over and over again!

Brendan with his 're'built snowman! He was very proud of himself!

After a couple of hours playing in the snow, we headed back to the hotel for some warming up with baths and hot chocolate! We watched movies, took naps, and played games! Unfortunately Colin got the 12 hour flu and was in bed the rest of the night :(

So with sickie in bed, Ryan stayed behind while I took the girls and Brendan into town for dinner at a very yummy pizza is on historic route 66!

After dinner, which we brought home for Ryan, we walked around the shops, had some very yummy pie for dessert and then headed to the pool again before calling it a night!

We had lots of fun on our snow get away!
