So this past week was National Teacher Appreciation Week and since we are watching our budget I looked to see what I could make and bake for the boys' teachers as little tokens of our appreciation. Sunday night I whipped up a batch of peanut butter & jelly muffins. The first batch didn't turn out so well, but the second batch didn't turn out so bad!

These are the muffins that I bundled for the boys' teachers today...I had the boys each write a note to their teacher telling them what they liked about school and how much they appreciated them as well as thank you! I prettied up the packages with white tulle!

Tuesday was a busy busy day...Brendan had play practice after school, Colin had choir practice after school which we had to rush away from early to make it to the ballpark for a double header. The about picture is Colin at bat. The Cubs pulled away a win...they are having a great season with only 3 losses..11-3!

This was a very convenient double header as both teams played on the same field. And since we didn't even have time to stop and grab a bite, I packed a picnic dinner for us to eat on the way!

Ryan coaching Brendan on 1st base and then below Ryan catching for Brendan until the catcher was ready with his equipment on. This was a very exciting game. The Cardinals were up and then the Red Sox would go ahead and it was all tied up at the bottom of the 6th (the last inning). The ump was something awful the entire game and called a kid from the opposing team safe at home when he clearly should have been out (which he later admitted was a bad call) so we lost the game 11-10. {insert MAD face here}

Day 3 of Teacher Appreciation Week brought us to chocolate covered strawberries...so YUMMY! The note that was sent was 'Thanks for being so sweet!"

Thursday was Colin's choir concert. He did a great job and even had a solo in the song "We Are the World". I was so proud of him. Here is Colin & Kayla after his concert.

Last day of teacher appreciation gifts...a coffee mug filled with flower pencils and pens & a gift card to Starbucks with the note "Thanks for helping me grow!" I had lots of fun trying to be fun and frugal for their teachers (Tuesday was trail mix with "I'm nuts about you!" and Thursday was homemade cookies with "I think you're a top notch cookie!")


This was a long and busy week so pizza from our favorite place was dinner tonight. And yes we were all in bed by 9pm!!

Saturday we were once again up at the butt crack of dawn to be to the diamond by 7:30 where Colin and the Cubs were up against the Indians. Colin pitched 3 innings and did an awesome job! He also scored 3 times to help the Cubs bring home a WIN...8-3!

After coming home and showering up Colin, my mom and I headed to the store to look for some birthday ideas for this soon to be 10 year old! After some shopping we headed to Culver's for lunch. I love their kid's meals with the free ice cream...here is Colin Boy enjoying his treat...YUM!

And then we got home and he hit the jack pot with his birthday box from Mimi and the clan over at He & Me + 3...who happens to be my IRL BFF and Colin's Godmother!

Tuesday is Colin's actual birthday...his golden birthday....he will be 10 on the 10th!

Hope everyone had a Blessed Easter...Ours was wonderful!

The kids woke up to find Easter baskets and eggs all over!

After the hunts were over we sat down and read the story of Easter using our Resurrection Eggs. (which I happened to 're'find when we moved this past December)

And then it was time for church and family fun with lots of laughs and family pics...silly and serious of course.

(Kayla spent the day with her real mom, which was a good thing, although she was missed terribly!)

Monday was a BIG day for Colin Boy...sending off his application for Camp Candlelight...a camp specifically for kids with epilepsy. Last year was his first time attending and he has been talking about going back since he came back! He is so very excited! He goes away for an entire week in June!

Wednesday found me at school until after 7:30pm....I was working on my accountability Binder that is due this Wednesday but because of baseball games, today was the only day that I was able to stay late and finish the ENTIRE thing...such a pain, but had to be done.

Thursday April 28,2011 It came...it came...it FINALLY came...MY BIRTHDAY PRESENT FROM MY BFF MIMI!! I have been waiting for this thing for more than a week and it finally came! And I loved it all! Thanks Mimi xoxo

Colin had a baseball game tonight as well. I thought this was kind of a cool pic...Colin was waiting in the dugout for his turn at bat and I love the sun setting behind him. The game was MUCH better than Tuesday's game...the Cubs beat their opponent by the mercy rule (up by 12 runs) 15-3...Great Job Cubbies!

I am not proud of my choice...BUT this was my breakfast on Friday morn...I HEART donuts and since losing all of my weight I have {almost} stopped eating them...um yea...I said almost!!

One of my absolute fav books is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Each year I do a book study on it with my kinders and incorporate the life cycle of the butterfly {science} as well as Days of the Week {math} into my Reading. The kids love it and we have so much fun. Here is our wall to show the sequence of the story....so bright and cheery.

Brendan & the Cardinals had a game Friday night...which they WON...thankyouverymuch...so here he is playing the field...this kid has the hardest time keeping his tongue in his mouth when he is concentrating...so needless to say with all of his games and testing this last month he has some major chapped lips. Way to go Cards on the W!

Saturday...my plan was to stay in my jammies ALL day long and watch my most favorite channels on TV...Bravo, Food Network, & TLC...yep but that didn't happen cuz I'm a mom and moms don't get that luxury...I had grocery shopping to do, dishes to wash, laundry to fold, kids to chauffeur and papers to grade. At least while I was grading I had the TV on! Oh well there's always next Saturday right??...or not!!

Diaries of a Baseball Mom...

Half way into the season and the Cubs show promise!! They are pulling together as a team and seem to get better every game. They are 7-2 and it has been a very exciting season! Some of the boys have played basketball & football together and even fewer played baseball together and then there are some who this is their first time picking up a bat and ball EVER! But they are doing awesome!


Colin has some mad pitching & catching skillz...He LOVES those positions...loves loves loves!

More batters than not walk away with a strike out...awe...so sad! NOT! I love it!! {although it is kinda nerve racking too!}


He is fierce at the plate and when he makes contact...he makes contact...if you know what I mean! If he's on base, you can bet that he is gonna steal and score before the inning is up.

So half way through the season and there is a semi recap {sorta}...I know not as detailed as last year, but man alive...with the 2 of them on different teams and a bazillion games week it's a miracle I can keep up!! I am not gonna lie when I say that I have lost track of their games and stats...I know BAD mom...but at least I have the pictures to prove I was there!!

Half way into the season and the Cardinals are 3-5...not great but they are learning. There is a handful of kids that have been playing together for the last few years and then there are some boys on the team that have never played baseball before...yep...first season ever...so we are learning!


Brendan has spent some time pitching...which he LOVES but makes his momma so nervous!

Last Wednesday (my birthday) it was rough...really rough. The boys had no school and it must have thrown off their entire day cuz they played like crappola! Here is Brendan in the outfield...is he awake or asleep??? Not sure! Cards lost this game 8-0...big fat shut out.
