Diary of a Baseball Mom...

If it's spring...it's baseball season! Well it's spring and the boys have started baseball! Baseball is pretty big in our city...we have spring training here for the 2 major league teams and our little league program is very big...last year there were over 2500 kids playing in our city league from t-ball to kid pitched fast ball. Depending on the age of the player determines what kind of team they play on...both Brendan & Colin play on a kid pitch team in the minor division in the 9-10 yr old league...their team is the Indians. T-ball teams are named after college teams, coach pitch teams are named after AAA farm teams and kid pitch teams are named after MLB teams.

This past Saturday was opening day although they have been holding practices the last few weeks. Baseball is very intense...usually 2-3 games a week now that they are playing in the older division. They love it though...being able to play on the 'real' fields with infields and outfields! (Some of the younger teams just play on grass only fields!)
Saturday the Indians played against the Devil Rays. Above is Colin as the lead off hitter. They have an awesome coach who believes that every kid should learn to play every position so that they have more versatility as they get older and into high school. He is also the assistant varsity baseball coach for the HS where my hubby coaches football!

Being in kid pitch means watching out for wild pitches!! Way to be on the lookout Colin! Thankfully no hitters were hit during the making of this blog!!

In the dugout...that is Colin with his pants full of dirt...he LOVES to slide!

Colin catching...he was really good...I was really nervous!

Brendan playing left field

Brendan's turn to bat. This is Brendan's 2nd season on a kid pitch team. We waived Colin up to play in the division because he is so big (and a pretty good player).

Colin making it to 3rd base; that is the head coach Randy.

Brendan at 3rd base
Both boys had a fantastic game...Brendan had a triple and Colin had 2 walks and 2 runs scored......the final score..Indians 9 - Rays 5.

After the victory, Coach Randy having a meeting with the team.

To be continued...

The next game is this Thursday...Let's Go Indians!

Sunday~058/365

My dad and cousin's little girl, Sydney, playing games on Sunday. We spent the day hanging out with family at my aunt's house. It was great to see everyone. This is one smart little cookie...(Sydney that is!) she is only 3 years old and already knows all of the letters and sounds...I want her in my kinder class!!

Monday~059/365 Monday afternoon I was dropped off at Mimi's house for the night! I was so excited to see my godson Stunt Man! He had all sorts of fun things planned for us including a sleep over with me in the basement! I couldn't get enough of his cuddles and smiles and laughter and hugs and kisses and....EVERYTHING!

Tuesday~060/365 With Mimi's 3 kiddos in school on Tuesday we were able to sneak in a few hours shopping at my new obsession...HOBBY LOBBY!! And then we picked up this cutie and headed to the park! After, we grabbed lunch at home with block building and puzzle making. Right before I had to head back to my Aunt's house, we went to Cold Stone for a yummy treat! I love this guy with all my heart! I am his 'godmudder'!

Wednesday~061/365

Happy 10th Birthday to my St. Patty's Day birthday boy Brendan!

Thursday~062/365 I was able to love on the cutie, baby Z, while his mom and I feasted on Panda Express for lunch!

Friday~063/365 The weather has turned into sandal weather...meaning painted toes and new black sandals are a must! You like??!

Saturday~064/365

Spring means baseball in these parts...and the season begins! Thankfully the boys are on the same team this season and as a bonus Ryan is one of their coaches! This is on our way to our first game vs. the Rays...the Indians came away with a win...9-5. (Colin is #8 & Brendan is #7)

This is what Sara says on her blog about Project 365...
"I am attempting to take one photograph each day of this next year. My hope is to be able to slow down and see the small things, become a better photographer and to be reminded of the many blessings God sends my way!"

Your Gonna Miss This Moment

Pam over at Your Gonna Miss This is the hostess of this weekly meme that helps you to remember and cherish the little things in life!

The other day I was in my bedroom hanging out so the boys could watch TV on the big TV and I hear them calling my name...so this is what I see when I walk out there...

' Look at our big comfy bed' they said!!

'Will you take our picture so you can blog about it??'

I am gonna miss them asking me to take their pic and blog about it! One day soon they will not want me there sticking my camera in their faces, saying cheese and taking pictures...so while they are calling me out from another room and asking "will you blog about this?"...you can bet that I am gonna!!

What are you going to miss? Visit Pam and let her know!

Where's Mom?! 48/52 Photos of ME!

Forever In Blue Jeans
Are YOU a mom? Are YOU missing from the pictures? Most moms I know are, but here is a fun meme that brings us moms out from behind the camera and puts US in the spotlight! Carin over at Forever in Blue Jeans is the hostess of this year long picture project; and just think, after a year, you will have at least 52 pictures with you in them! It can be scary, but com'on, give it a try! It's easy, all you have to do is hand over the camera and smile (or not, it is completely up to you!!). And the best part is, you can jump in and start whenever; for me this will be my 48th week!

This is my Nannie & Papa on their wedding day in 1944...aren't they so handsome?! I am not sure if you can see....but my Nannie is wearing some very beautiful pearls... ...a few years ago, she decided to break up her necklace and make 5 pearl bracelets...one for each of her 5 granddaughters. We all wore them to her memorial service this past Saturday.

I am so thankful and grateful that I have this beautiful bracelet as a daily reminder of her.

And here we are trying to get the above picture...very silly I know!
From L to R...my cousins Trish, Laura, Sue, Me and my sister Jen.
Thanks mom for snapping this beauty!!Now it's your turn to join the fun...hand the camera over, say cheese, and smile!!

Your Gonna Miss This Moment

Pam over at Your Gonna Miss This is the hostess of this weekly meme that helps you to remember and cherish the little things in life!
The first week of March our school hosted a Dr. Seuss Spirit week! I mentioned it a few times throughout the last week...but here are the pics!
I am really gonna miss it when the boys are 'too cool' for dressing up in a fun and silly way! We had lots of fun coming up with different things for each day!

Monday

Monday was Cat in the Hat Day...wear your crazy hat!!

Tuesday

Tuesday was Thing 1/Thing 2 Day...dress as twins with your friend! Brendan & his friend dressed in red shirts and jeans while Colin & his friend actually wore our Thing 1 & Thing 2 shirts!

Wednesday
Wacky Wednesday...I think they had the most fun with this day! (so did I!)

Thursday
Fox in Socks...crazy socks day! And believe it or not all the of the socks worn are mine! The boys just have plain ol' boring white socks for baseball socks...so they dove into my sock drawer to find some wild ones!!

Friday
Dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss character. Colin & I went as The Cat in the Hat...Brendan choose not to dress up (*tear*).
We had lots of fun dressing up...but I know when day soon it will not be seen as cool to dress up...especially if mom is doing it!! So for now I will give them all they need to look silly and have fun and to make sure I get it all on film!

What are you going to miss? Visit Pam and let her know!
