I am often defined by my family.
I am OK with that.
I am a football mom.
I am a teacher.
I am a coach's wife.
This is my life.
And I love it.
My husband coaches football. He has coached football at the high school level since before I met him. My choice was this...learn football or find a new boyfriend...you can guess what my answer was those 14 years ago.
My husband is the best kind of coach...the kind of coach who loves the game, who passes that love of the game onto his players. He is passionate and doesn't care about winning or losing...just that they do their absolute best. He is there for his players all of the time...whenever they need him...you can see the respect both ways on and off of the field between Ryan and his players.
We have been Cardinals, Warriors, almost Pirates, and now Wildcats in a variety of colors, but it doesn't matter what color I wear or what team I am cheering for...I am cheering...for Ryan...for his players. I love being Mama Mac to his players...they love on the boys and the boys love it! It is a different role now that we have kids, but I wouldn't change it for the world. You can bet that I am in those stands...home or away...hot or cold...sick or healthy...every Friday night. I can't imagine being anywhere else. I can count on 2 hands how many games I have missed over the last 14 years. I pride myself on being THAT wife in the stands...every game. Friday nights during the season without football bore me!
I give up my husband for a good 5 months a year {at least}...seeing him only to kiss hello and good bye.

I am OK with that.
He misses get togethers, parties, our children's games.
I am OK with that.
I come home to an empty house more often than not.
I am OK with that.
He is changing the lives of many young men...that is a HUGE responsibility...and he is great at it. We are there for any of his players for anything they might need whether it be a ride, a place to sleep, a dollar...they are our family.
I am OK with that.
I am a Coach's Wife.
We are a Coaching Family.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
And
I am OK with that.
No man can be a football player who does not love the game; half heartedness or lack of earnestness will eliminate any man from a football team; his love for the game must be genuine; it is not devotion to a fad that makes a man play football - it is because they enjoy the struggle. ~Fielding H. Oh I LOVE that!!!!!!!!
What a wonderful life it is :)
That's sweet!
I couldn't have said it better myself ;)
Good Luck tonight!
That is wonderful! God didn't just call your husband to be a coach, He called both of you to walk the road together.
Stacey,
Beautifully said! I am never ceased to be amazed by who God matches us with. I love that YOU LOVE your life...it shows! Have a great football weekend, my dear!
Wonderfully written! Love it!
It is the life we choose...some days it is hard but at the end of the day it is worth it. Great post and nice picture of you and Rhino.
I love this post! You are the best football mom and wife for sure!!!
Ryan sounds like a great coach! The kind you want for your kids so that they do their best because they love the game and they want to play their best...not because they are afraid of their coach etc....
I know you are all loving this season!
THAT IS SO AWESOME! GREAT POST!
Loved this post!
