V.I.C.T.O.R.Y.

THAT'S THE COBRA'S BATTLE CRY!!!
Cobras 12 - Gladiators 0
Today was home opener for Brendan & Colin's football team, the Cobras
After last night's loss with Ryan's team, we all wanted the taste of victory!
We were up and out of the house by 7:30 this morning and to the field by 8:15am...
...it was near 90* that early in the AM!

Here are the boys practicing before kick off

Colin is the center (#60) & Brendan (#80) is the left tackle

Pre game speech from Coach Steve...
...WE DO THIS TOGETHER...

Coin toss...Brendan was one of the captains

They are so cute...walking out hand in hand, listening to the ref, watching the toss and then shaking hands with their opponents!

We played the Gladiators
Colin is snapping the ball and Brendan is to his left

"Good game, good game, good game..."

"We are proud of you, yes we are proud of YOU!"

*clap, clap*
V.I.C.T.O.R.Y. Tunnel

The boys did a GREAT job! Colin was starting offense and Brendan was starting offense AND defense.

And even though it was hot...I loved cheering on my boys!

Congrats Cobras...GREAT way to start off a GREAT season!

Friday Night Under the Lights

I sit here at 10:00 pm a little melancholy...I'm not gonna lie, it is gonna be a long season! We have a very very very young team...mostly sophomores, with only 7 seniors. They tried hard, and they gave it their all, but their all just wasn't good enough...here is the story...
...getting to the stadium after our dinner with another coach's wife & family! Gotta love KFC on game day! We had to be to the field no later than 6:30 pm for a 7:00 pm kick off since the boys have special jobs this season! Here they are posing outside the stadium with another coach's kid!

And here are your 2009 WCHS Wildcats!

The boys taking their job very seriously...ball boys! They had a meeting with the referee before kick off. They were told their duties and how to do them! They had to stay with the referee at all times except during any kicking! They loved it and had so much fun! Brendan & Colin are in the navy shirts and the head coach's son, Bric, is the one in the gray shirt.

Ryan coaching from the sidelines and apparently not very happy with the call! The story of a coach's life!

During a time out

The Knights, our opponent, scored on their opening drive. That was kind of disheartening, but our boys game back a few drives later to run it in for a TD and tie it up...well it went down hill from there.

More coaching...the final score was 41-7.

After the games, win or lose, all of the coaches families go onto the field for a hug & kiss. The kids love it cuz they get to run around the field!
Not sure when I will see Ryan...he will be watching this game tonight and then watching film on the team they play next week. He has practice tomorrow morning where they will show film, do chalk talk and whatever they deem necessary! And then meetings on Sunday!
Story of a coach's wife's life!!

One last pose by the goal post.
The boys have their first game Sat at 10am!

Until next Friday...GO WCHS!

WHAT......

...IT'S GAME DAY???
YEP...IT'S GAME DAY!
And we are so excited!!!

Today is Friday and in the fall, Friday means game day!
WCHS has it's home opener tonight against the #2 team in the state...YIKES...but on a good note, for us anyways, is that 2 of their star players won't be dressing tonight due to injuries!
Now, That is good news for us, but I hope a speedy recovery for these boys...really I do... just not speedy enough to play tonight!

Coach Mac getting ready to go to school...I won't see or talk to him again until he is on the field.

And the boys are just as excited...I didn't even have to wake them up this morning...

Game Faces....GGGRRRR!!!

NO EXCUSES....GIVE IT YOUR ALL...
ALL IN...ALL THE TIME!

More to come on my Friday Night Lights Post tonight after the game!

Where's Mom?! 26/52 Photos of ME!

Are YOU a mom? Are YOU missing from the pictures? Most moms I know are, but here is a fun meme that brings us moms out from behind the camera and puts US in the spotlight! Carin over at Forever in Blue Jeans is the hostess of this year long picture project; and just think, after a year, you will have at least 52 pictures with you in them! It can be scary, but com'on, give it a try! It's easy, all you have to do is hand over the camera and smile (or not, it is completely up to you!!). And the best part is, you can jump in and start whenever; for me this will be my 26th week!

Here is a picture of me and my oldest, Brendan! It was a...hand the camera to dad and take our picture quick, for my Thursday meme!! Look at that child's right eye...uumm...GROSS! I got a call from the school nurse about 12:15pm yesterday afternoon saying that Brendan was in her office with a red, pussy eye. Yep...pink eye! So I had to split my class and sign out and head to the urgent care. $95 later...we are good to go! Should be good as new in 3-4 days!

He is so goofy! And I am so tired!

Now it's your turn to join the fun...hand the camera over, say cheese, and smile!

Walk With Me...Won't You?!

Erica over at Scottsville hosts this fun weekly meme every Wednesday! This is a time to stroll though the thousands of pictures and choose one to reminisce about! I have chosen the pictures from my December 10, 2005 file! On this particular day we were at the PIR, Phoenix International Raceway, to see my dad get to race! That's right...he was racing! Well not really racing, but it was still so cool!
For Father's Day of that year, we got him the Richard Petty Driving Experience! It was so very cool! We all got to go down to PIR and watch! When he first got there he had to go through a safety class, and then got fitted for his driving regalia, and then headed to the track, and that is where we waited and waited and waited! There were a lot of drivers, and they only allowed 8 on the track at a time!

Here are the boys and their cousin Kennedy standing in front of one of the race cars. They loved it!

Colin even got to sit in one...how cool is that!?!

The boys with my dad

My dad standing next to Jr's car...one of his favs!

Getting ready to go...

Getting in...

And away he goes!!!
He got to drive around the track 8 times...I think his highest rate of speed was 108mph...that's fast!

That was a fun day! And probably the best present we ever gave him!

Thanks for strolling with me! For More strolls down Memory Lane, be sure to visit Erica!

Cobra's Scrimmage

Last Thursday the boys, all the boys, had scrimmages. Unfortunately I was not able to be at Ryan's scrimmage, but I was able to capture some great shots of the boys! They are both at new positions this season, so it was a transition for them, but they tried their best, and did great!

Colin is the center, which means he snaps, or gives the ball to the quarterback...this is a HUGE job, but he loves it! It means that he is on the field the entire time that the offense is on the field!
I love this shot...you can feel the passion of the boys waiting for that ball to be snapped!
Colin is the one in the black socks, #60, and he is doing an awesome job blocking...cuz you see a center's job is not only to snap the ball, but to make sure no one gets to the quarterback before the ball gets to another player!
Brendan is all over the field this year...defensive end, left guard and line backer...basically he will play offense and defense which means he will be on the field most of the game! He is all over that!
Colin getting some sideline coaching from the offensive coordinator

With most of the team being so new to football, this was the first time hitting for a lot of the players...they did as well as can be expected! The good news is that they can only get better!
Here's to a great season!
Go Cobras!

Please Pray...

I received a call last week from my mom that my Nannie had fallen. Not a good fall, but is there really a good fall? The assisted living center where she lives found her in the middle of her bedroom floor not able to get up last week. They are not sure how she fell or how long she had been on the floor, but it was pretty bad...broken hip. She was taken to the hospital where it was found that she not only had a broken hip, but she also had phenomena, UTI, a serious blood infection, and a mild heart attack. She has been on serious antibiotics for the last few days and today, she is having a partial hip replacement.
Usually this in not to big of a deal, but you see, my Nannie is not in the best of health...she is 89 years old and suffers from Alzheimer's & Dementia...so every time she wakes up she has no idea what has happened and tries to get out of bed only to find that she can't walk. My mom, aunt and cousins have taken vigil at her bedside for the last week...just waiting.

So today is the big day...surgery day...and after that back to rehab. Please pray for Nannie and for my family during this time...and for me. I am so very sad that I cannot be there. I know that there would be nothing I could do if I was there, but I just wish I was there for my mom, my aunt, my cousins...for my Nannie...so please pray.

What Have You Been Up To?

•Let's see...me...you ask so kindly...well football mostly, but you know that! But last week was the last week of 5 days/week practice..thankyouverymuch!!

•This week we only have practice on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday..well for the boys anyways! Ryan still has practice everyday until forever!

•Why is it that I have to pull them (the boys that is) outta bed by their toe nails every school morning, but on mornings when they can actually sleep in, they are up at the buttcrackofdawn?! I just don't get it!

•Last Thursday, Ryan had a scrimmage and I was so very sad that I could not be there...I was at the boys' scrimmage instead. Funny how that works...2 places to be same time, different fields! Unfortunately both teams did not fare too well...hopefully their regular seasons will go much better!

•I read an entire book this weekend...The Time Traveler's Wife. I think I liked it...no I did like, I am just not sure I liked the ending! Now I really want to see the movie!

•Last night we went to a birthday party for a 4 yr old little girl...love this family...couldn't wait to get outta there...imagine...7 little girls just running around screaming at the top of their lungs...it was fun for about 2 hrs and then we left!

•Colin is doing great on his football diet!! In fact this morning we had to 'cinch' a pair of jean shorts that were too tight for him before...he was so excited!

•Ryan is also on this diet and has lost 30 lbs! I am so proud of him! Way to go honey!

•Friday is Ryan's first regular season game...against the #2 team in the state...keeping our fingers crossed! (and our toes too!)

•And speaking of toes...I painted mine sparkly blue with silver polk-a-dots! Go WCHS!

•I lost another student this week...sigh...becuase she moved. Made me sad...she was a good girl and one of my few girls...so that means I am now down to 18 students with 11 being boys...oy vey!

•This past Friday the boys got their game jerseys...they are very cool and they are very excited...last names on the back and everything!

So that is what I have been up too...what about you?! ☺
