True Story Tuesday

WHY is it that kids get sick at the most inopportune time???????
Last week poor Brendan was the first one to come down with the yuckies!
And of course it was the WORST week for him to get sick with mine and Ryan's school schedules.
So this is how it went down....

Monday Night Bren is complaining that he is not feeling all that well; that he has a headache, sore throat, blah blah blah. Now mind you, I am not the kind of mom who coddles with one whines...gasp...I know, right!

I was all like... "You are fine...here have some medicine and go to bed."

3:00 am...Brendan is at my bedside crying that he dying...so I put my hand on his forehead and OUCH...burned myself. So I got the thermometer and...GASP...it was 104*.

Me: "Oh baby...I am so sorry I didn't believe you. Let's get you some medicine." I know BAD MOM!
So I feel my way to the linen closet to find that I HAVE NO CHILDREN'S MOTRIN....WHAT?!

3:30 am...so now I am on my way to Wal-Mart for children's motrin...don't be jealous!

3:45 am...drugging up my kid to put him back to bed, but he had other plans and decided we were up for the day. Lucky me...

And since I had parent/teacher conferences, Ryan was the lucky one to stay home with sickie on Tuesday. I stayed home on Wednesday and by Wednesday afternoon his fever had broken and he was starting to feel back to his norm...what ever that may be!!

And so then who decides to get sick on Wednesday night??...YEP...you guessed it...Colin!

ARE YA KIDDIN' ME?!

And the sad thing about it...I mean the REALLY sad thing about it was that there was NO way that either Ryan or I could take Thursday off. Ryan had Benchmark Testing and I had 5 hours of parent/teacher conferences...so REALLY BAD MOM THAT I AM...I drugged him up and took him to school. Thankfully we only had a half day of school...so he made it through school and while I was having my conferences, he and his bro watched movies and played on my computer in my office...it's what he would have done at home anyways...RIGHT??!!

Com'on...help a mom feel better...tell me you would have done the same thing?!

OK...never mind...I accept the fact that sometimes I do not make the best decisions...but a girl can try.

And in the end...DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT I REALLY HATE?....I hate that Ryan's testing and my conferences came before my sick child.

And sadly...I didn't even get a picture of sickie Colin since he had to go to school sick...poor kid!

That's my True Story and I'm sticking to it!! For more True Stories check out Rachel.

Oh I love ya! Sometimes you just can't help it..you have to do what it takes to get stuff done and there are times that things just can't be put off.

Glad everyone is feeling better and praying the sicky bug stays out of your house!

Can't look back, gotta always look forward being a parent or you will beat yourself up forever over every decision. We do what we think is best and what we can do.
hope everyone is better now.
Hugs,
Mimi

I've done the same thing! We were in the yard working and I told my oldest to be helping. He was complaining of a headache. Well we finished and I gave my other son a dollar for doing so good and not complaining like his older brother. later than night my oldest had a major fever and headache and chills. Oops. We all do it.

We have all been there with you...I don't do the whole whining thing either, so I would have done exactly what you would have done...sort of like the whole rain thing with us this weekend. Hey...let's just look at it as making them tougher. ;-)

Good guess about saving the picture for the challenge...I had not thought of that...honestly, but actually I don't want to stick it on my door because we might have some changes going on in our life...mums the word.

Yep, I think I would have done the same thing. Sometimes life just works that way. You do the best you can do and hope for the best. Glad to know everyone is much better now!

I am sooo jealous that you got to go to Walmart at 3:30am to buy Motrin! Waaaaahhhhhhhaaa! Why can't I have fun like that?

OK, seriously. That stinks big time. Luckily Colin only had to survive a 1/2 day at school!

Aw, poor kiddos ;( I think you did what you had to do. I would've done the same thing, especially since they are older and can keep themselves content while you get what you need done :)

I hope everyone stays well and you get through the week! Moms just don't get a day off! Take care! You're an awesome mom! Hope conferences went well, too :)

{BTW, Dan was in Phoenix, AZ..he got home today. He laughed because he said he was leaving before the 'Winter Blast' hit...which was going to get down to 60 degrees there! LOL! A Winter Blast here would mean single digits! haha!}

You're an awesome mom. I think Colin will forgive you.

I admire teachers and I really admire you, a teacher and mom.

I'm sorry the kids were sick and I pray that you and your hubs will stay healthy.

Thanks for dropping in to see me even though I haven't been around much. I have pictures from my day trip this weekend. I'll get them up soon.

Take care,
Nannette

That is exactly what my kids had. Headache, sore throat and fever. Man, that crap is really getting around the country. Hope they are feeling better. You are not a bad mom.

Don't get too down on yourself. Your a great mom and just taking care of your home the best way you can!!

Blessings and prayers for healing for you and yours!

Ay! Well I guess the only thing worse is to also have both parents down for the count? Which happened to us for almost two stinkin' weeks. I'd rather use my leave time up someplace warm, not feverish please ;)

Glad y'all are on the mend! So sorry about those sickies!

Poor kiddos!! I think we've all done the "if you can just make it until X" thing before. So if you're a bad mom, we all are!
