Diary of a Baseball Mom...

Saturday March 27 our city hosted it's annual Cal Ripken Day at the ballpark. We are fortunate enough to live in a city that has a spring training ball park so the months of February and March are filled with Cactus League baseball. On top of having MLB right here in our backyard, our city has the 3rd largest little league program in the country with over 2500 kids playing ages 5-15.

Each spring we kick off our season with an afternoon at the ballpark. The players and coaches get to parade around the field before the first pitch and then we are invited to stay for the 'real' game.
This year Ryan got to go on the field with the boys as he is now one of their coaches.

Our team stopped right in front of the Kansas City Royals dugout so they were able to talk to some of the players and coaches...they thought that was SO.COOL.
The short stop even gave Brendan a baseball and the first base coach signed it along with the rest of the team's hats!

After the league is introduced they come up through the stands and we go grab a spot on the lawn, cuz lawn seats are the best! We lay out a blanket and have a picnic.

Both boys had their gloves hoping to catch a homeroom ball... no such luck this game!

After a few innings, we headed home...it is just WAY to hot to sit in the sun all afternoon. And even though we left before the end of the game...fun was had by all!

OH... we attended a game where the Kansas City Royals played the Oakland A's...and I am not even sure who was winning when we left!
Such as the life of a baseball mom...at the moment anyways!
To be continued...

So FUN! Funny that it's too hot there! ;) We're getting into the 70's this week, so exciting!

Sounds like so much fun! We hope to go to another baseball game this year...it is the best time! And so excited for Alex and Emily to start baseball soon, too! {Emily will be so funny, haha!}

I honestly can't believe that with THREE boys you were allowed to leave BEFORE the game ended...oh my word that would never happen in my house! ha!

We're supposed to be able to do something similar at the end of the month at the A's stadium (or maybe it was the Giants) but we have to purchase the tickets for it so we're still debating. I know it would be fun but I don't think it will have the same hometown feel like in your area.

I'll bet Brendan was really excited to get that ball!

Well I loved seeing the pictures because I had already heard the story from you personally. Great pictures. I love the one of B admiring his baseball.
