Happy Mother's Day & Happy Birthday...2 Posts in One!

Today is Mother's Day and I will get to that in a few minutes...but first I want to tell you about my second born son, Colin. Today he turns 8! I remember his birth day like it was yesterday. When I first found out I was pregnant with Colin, I was not very happy to say the least. Brendan was only 4 months old, and I had just quit my job to be a stay at home mom. I was on the birth control pill and when I saw those 2 pink stripes, I lost it. I started to cry...and then I made Ryan run to the store to buy another HPT! I was sure that the first one was wrong. But it was not, and God had a plan. It was not my plan, but His plan. Eventually I calmed down and accepted the fact that I was going to have 2 small children under the age of 14 months old.I had a hard pregnancy with placenta privia. My dr. wasn't sure of my due date (even though I was positive I KNEW!) because I had been on the pill and now because of this complication, we had to have a scheduled c-section. So anyways, with a misdiagnosed due date and placenta privia, Colin was born almost 6 weeks early instead of the normal 2 weeks. It was a scary few days after Colin was born. He had underdeveloped lungs and ended up in the NICU for the first 72 hours. After that, he was growing like a weed and came home on Mother's Day. What an awesome Mother's Day present. I could not have asked for a sweeter gift!

Above are a few pictures from previous birthdays! Below is my 8 year old! He is opening presents from his Godmother, MiMi. He was so excited!
Since we live across the country, lots of our presents come via the mailman!

Thanks Mimi and family!

Happy Birthday Colin...I can't believe you are 8 and I can't imagine my life with out you!
I love you so very much...have a great day!

And Now for Mother's Day...
Here is a picture of my mom (along with my dad and the boys!) Her name is Karen...let me introduce you...
She is a great mom, wife, grandma, sister, friend, aunt, cousin...you name it, she is great at it!
I miss her lots. She is now in Michigan for the summer. She has the best of both worlds; she spends 6 months a year (the cold months in MI) here and the rest of the time (the hot months here) there. They are there now, they left a few weeks ago, so when we visit in a few months we will see her again and then she, along with my dad, will be back in time for Halloween! She is a great mom. Growing up I remember her being home when I got home from school, dinner was on the table each night, she worked in my classroom every year as a room mom and was in the PTO. When I grew up, I wanted to be just like my mom. When she did go to work, (when I was 13) she worked for the school district so we had the same schedule and vacations. After 18 years of work, she is now retired and enjoys golf, traveling and being a grandma!
Happy Mother's Day Mom...we miss and love you! Have a great day!

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mom like me.

What kind of a little girl was your mom?
1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mo m doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mo m. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Mo ms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Mo ms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.
4. Mo ms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd dye it, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.
Wishing all the Moms out there a very
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!
