Diaries of a Baseball Mom...

Game 15: Thursday May 20, 2010 vs. MarinersThis was a fun and exciting game...it was the last game of our regular season as well as the last day of school! Both boys had an awesome game, as well as the rest of the team! Here is Colin at bat...sadly he struck out each time he was at the plate.

And here is Brendan running for 1st after his only hit. Such concentration!

The coach brought Colin in as a Closer...in last inning to finish out the game and he did A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.! There was 1 out with 2 on base and he finished the game with 2 strike outs! The above picture is Colin warming up and the below picture is Colin striking out the batter! Way to go!!Look at how sad the runner on 2nd is!!...so sad he can't even look up!

And that brings us a V.I.C.T.O.R.Y.!! Onto the play-offs!

Game 15 Breakdown: Indians 11 - Mariners 6; Brendan 1-2, run; Colin 0-2; Mariners get all runs on walks and passed balls - they NEVER hit the ball and only swung 7 times. With two on and 1 out in the last inning, Colin takes the mound and K's the last 2 hitters! Record: 9-6

Game 16: Monday May 24, 2010 vs. Red Sox
Play-off gameColin started out catching...he is such a great catcher! The game was mentally hard for the Indians...not sure why...but they did not play as well as they could have. The should have beat this team...easily.
Brendan playing 2nd.

Colin batting...no hits, but 2 walks...one from him being hit by a pitch...way to take one for the team Colin!

Catching Brendan in the dugout...he was 1-3 tonight but did score and bring in a run!

They were down by A LOT in the last inning...but they came back to make it a VERY exciting finish...unfortunately they ran out of time...literally ran out of time. Our league has a 2 hr max per game...so the game ended with us up to bat and 2 outs.
We lost BY 1 RUN....AAAAHHHHH!!!
And because it is a 1 game elimination...the season ends!

Game 16 Breakdown: Red Sox 12-Indians 11; Colin 0-1, 2 walks, 1 run; Brendan 1-3, 3B, 1 run. Once again, 12 runs on 2 hits - too many walks and passed balls. Good effort though - Indians were down 9-1 at one point - just ran out of time - literally - game called with 2 outs and Indians batting. (league rule - time limit).
Thanks for a great season Indians!
You did AWESOME!

I bet they do feel some pressure in a play-off game!

Your boys have had a great season and looks like they played their best every time!

It's so odd to me how they can show up one night and the next be totally out of it. Drives me crazy yet we have had a few of those this season too!

Our tournament is double elimination here-I don't think I'd like a single elim.... everyone can have a bad night. Poor things!

Don't those games get stressful! I mean if they are for an adult, can you imagine what they are like for them? I always have such amazement at how well they handle sports pressure! Good Job Boys!!!

At least you made playoffs, that's always an accomplishment just to get there. Sadly our Indians are not going to make it and it's up in the air whether or not the Orioles will. Our last official game is on Wednesday, but the weather forecast is calling for rain so we'll see.

I loved following your pictures and stats this year for the boys' team. I'm thinking I may just "borrow" this idea from you next year :)

Awww! What a bummer to end a game like that. That happened to us a few times when Josiah was younger too. It is such a downer for the losing team and really not much fun to say you won that way either. You got such great pics!! And your boys look like pros in their uniforms!! You can tell them that I said that! :)
